Baptism

The girls were baptized last Sunday at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Ellicott City. Ron and I (finally) found a church that we are attending regularly and actually like going. It's like the gym - the hardest part is getting there. But, once we are there, we like having an hour per week to turn off cell phones, snuggle with the babies and think about what's important. Plus, we found out that wearing jeans is perfectly acceptable at mass on Saturdays - so that's when we like to go!

The church where they were baptized is so cool. It's up on a hill behind the Phoenix bar and has so much history attached to it. It was founded in December 1838 and is the oldest, active parish between here and Pittsburgh. The architecture and buildings are also just beautiful.

The girls were the only ones getting baptized and it was nice to have the space to ourselves. It also took a lot of formality out of the ceremony vs if we were with strangers. Abby's godparents are my sister, Genne, and brother, Jimmy, and Lily's godparents are Joe (Ron's best friend) and sister, Jen. (I thought that I got a picture of my parents with the girls and am so mad that I didn't! The priest wanted to start the ceremony and my mom wasn't around - ugh!)

Genne, Jimmy and Abby
Ron Sr, Ginnie and the girls (Lily on the L, Abby on the R)

All of us
During the ceremony. We're probably all smiling because Lily cut a big fart right in the middle of the blessing!
The girls were pretty good while the hold water was being poured on them. Abby looked mildly pissed, but Lily smiled like it was bathtime!

The girls' cake - yummo!
